Small Jobs For Kids To Earn Money

So your child says they want a job like you. They want to be financially independent at the ripe old age of 7. Okay, not exactly but they want to have some money that they can call their own, or buy what they want, or maybe just to save. They may want you to give them some ideal jobs for kids to earn money. Before they are able to get a “real” job because of their age, there are still some great jobs for kids under 16. Children are all different, and parents can come up with jobs for kids to earn money based on your child’s abilities and likes. There are some great ways for kids to earn extra cash, be creative and come up with a plan for your child. Help them to decide what may be the best choices for them.

- Wash your car or neighbors cars
- Make jewelry for resale (kits are available cheap at your local superstore)
- Babysitting
- Gardening for neighbors, offer to pull weeds or water the garden
- A lemonade stand (these work great in busy neighborhoods)
- Pet Sitting
- Dog Walking
- Bathing animals
- Collecting Cans (make everyone you know aware you are doing this, so they can save for you also!)
- Shovel Snow
- Rake Leaves
- Mow Lawns
- House Sitting
- Have them do extra chores around the house (such as cleaning closets / garage)
- Gift Wrapping at holidays or birthdays
The possibilities are endless! You can print up fliers to let everyone you know that your “services” are available. Make sure to put down on the fliers everything you are willing to do to earn money. It may give people ideas they had never before thought of having someone do for them! With this list of jobs for kids to earn money, surely there is somthing that suits your child perfectly. If not, just remember to be creative according to your child’s likes. Earning money from a young age is a great lesson in responsibility. Help your child with a weekly list of things he plans to do for the week to earn money. You may want to also combine his earnings with an allowance. This is also a way for how kids can make money. Have them set goals, and help them to accomplish them. This will be a great lifelong lesson that will truly teach him or her the value of a dollar!
